Dark Signal Research was founded in 2010 through a partnership between Bob Barnitt and David Leventhal. Bob understood the microprocessor industry through his long career with Intel and David introduced Bob to cryptography.  A research lab materialized, which focused on unsolved problems in power constrained cryptosystems.

Robert F. Barnitt

Bob Barnitt serves as CEO at Dark Signal Research, leading the business development, marketing, and sales efforts for the company.  Mr. Barnitt was with Intel Corporation for over 20 years, where he held various senior management positions before leaving in 2001 to pursue other business opportunities.  Mr. Barnitt holds a B.S. in Public Administration from the University of Arizona.

David H. Leventhal

David Leventhal serves as Chief Scientist at Dark Signal Research and is responsible for directing our think tank efforts.  Mr. Leventhal has over 30 years of experience in the design and implementation of cryptography systems. His focus in industry is in the area of power efficient cryptography and reverse engineering.  Mr. Leventhal recently returned to Dark Signal after serving as a Senior Principal Engineer and cryptography subject matter expert in the defense industry. Mr. Leventhal also provides consulting services in cryptography and reverse engineering through his privately held company Leventhal Technologies. David Leventhal holds a B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Arizona and has been awarded multiple patents in the area of cryptology..
